Evaluations
Throughout the season, the umpire in chief and designated senior umpires will be attending games to provide you with help and feedback to let you know how you are doing on the field. This will be done on an ongoing basis. You may notice some of these people at your games, and they are easy to spot because they will be wearing OLL clothing and will identify themselves to you when they show up.
The crew chiefs will look at your appearance, your positioning, how you use your signals and if you can be heard. They will let you know what you are doing well and maybe a thing or two to work on in future games. It will also give us a chance to make sure that we are scheduling umpires at a level that is suited to their abilities and their commitment.
Evaluation is an important tool for us as it allows us to monitor on going issues at each level and assess how we are all doing as the season progresses. Please take these visits as a chance to learn something. We are not there to find faults , only to improve our overall program and help you along the way.
